Reboot Music feat. DJ MOGILL at the W Downtown

Living in the south everyone knows that a pool, drinks, and music is a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon - especially in the summer. With a breathtaking view over downtown Atlanta, the W Downtown’s WETBAR provides guests and visitors alike a luxurious experience at the only covered pool with a rooftop bar. With similar modern styles and brand values, its no surprise that Reboot Music joined forces with the W Downtown to collaborate on a one of a kind event to kick of the summer of 2011.

For those of you who have attended a Reboot Music event you know that you are in for an experience of superior sights and more importantly phenomenal music. Now take that unique sound, combine it with a pool party at a four diamond award-winning hotel, and without further adieu you have Reboot’s premier WETBAR event.

On June 5th an assembly of Atlanta’s finest up and coming DJs kicked off the summer at the W Downtown. A dynamic representation of all electronic music styles and genres is the best way to describe this line-up of Reboot artists including: MOGILL, SaboG, K2xL and DJ LOS with special guest performances by Chris Rimby, Roma Düb and Johnny K/Ariel.

Now this event wasn’t your typical pool party. This time Reboot Music pulled out all the stops. Would you go to a pool party and expect the DJ booth to literally be in the pool? Well that’s exactly where it was. Much to everyone’s surprise the booth was front and center setup on the inside ledge of the pool. With audio technicians and hotel managers on edge, as they say, “the show must go on.”

With DJs SaboG & K2xL getting the entertainment going the event was off to an exceptional start. As more and more people arrived everyone began to enjoy the mash-up of fun, sun and above all great music. Both DJs gave the crowd (both in and out of the pool) a taste of their distinct progressive sounds, often found in clubs and underground venues all around Atlanta. After K2xL’s set it was time to hand over the booth to DJ Roma Düb followed by DJ Chris Rimby to keep the momentum going.

With Trance infused tracks followed by dance music mixes, both artists turned up the volume motivating the crowd to drink up and most importantly get wet. People in the pool started to bob up and down to the beat while others found the traditional method of fist-pumping on solid ground to be a better fit. By this time the crowd had grown bigger with VIP areas popping bottles, the pool deck full and the bar running at full-capacity – everyone was enjoying the last bit of weekend and the beginning of summer. With every new song the crowd seemed to yell and dance even harder than before. After a great performance from both DJs it was time for the epic three hour set from the main artist – DJ MOGILL!

With tweets and Facebook feeds running ramped about the event, the countdown to the featured performance was over. Without fail DJ MOGILL pushed the limits of sound capable of blasting from the speakers – no really it was as loud as the speakers could go. While playing tracks from his club performances and ones featured on his monthly podcasts the crowd continued to go nuts, demonstrating that this event had no signs of stopping. As much love as the crowd showed him, he gave back ten-fold. Even though the sun started to go down the volume remained turned up through the longest set of the night. In a passing of the torch (figuratively speaking) MOGILL finished his set and turned the booth over to the newest member of the Reboot family DJ LOS.

At this point you couldn’t image that there was any more music that could be played but in fact there was much more to come. The big house sound of DJ LOS pushed the audio technician to ultimately pull the plug. After much uproar from the crowd, hotel management resolved the situation and DJ LOS was able to finish his high energy set. The event pressed on with late night Odyssey hosts, Johnny K & Ariel finishing strong! Coming off the Latin flare of Los, Johnny K & Ariel brought unique tribal sounds that kept the crowd wanting more.

Despite sunburns and pruned fingers the crowd wanted more but unfortunately it was time for the event to come to an end. To say that this event started off the summer of 2011 in Atlanta with a splash is an understatement. The variety of sounds and an unparalleled venue will ensure that this event goes down in the history books as one of the best daytime pool events in Atlanta.
